In this issue: Dental Implants Teeth that look and feel like your own A
Dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw
to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal
option for people in good general health who have lost a
tooth or teeth to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other
reason. Dental
implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a
tooth. You know that your confidence about your teeth affects how you feel
about yourself, both personally and professionally. Perhaps you hide your
smile because of spaces from missing teeth. Maybe your dentures don't feel
secure. Perhaps you have difficulty chewing. If you are missinig one or more
teeth and would like to smile, speak and eat with comfort and confidence,
there is good news! Dental implants are teeth that can look and feel just
like your own! What Dental implants can do Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering
teeth Support a bridge and eliminate the need for
a removable partial denture Provide support for a denture, making it
more secure and comfortable For
those of you who are missing one or more teeth and have been scared of dental
implants... There is an exciting new technique for dental implants. It's
called "Computer-Guided Dental Implant Surgery" We are happy to
announce that this is a procedure that Dr. Rod Strickland is able to perform
here in our office. No longer will we need to refer you to an oral surgeon
for dental implants. The long
term success of a dental implant is dependant on the implant being placed in
the jaw bone correctly. Because of this, the surgery for dental implants
traditionally involved cutting through the gums and then peeling them back
like a banana skin. I know this sounds invasive, but this is what had
to be done in order for the dentist to actually see exactly where the
bone was. However, with this new technique, Dr. Strickland uses cutting
edge CAT scan technology to get a 3-dimentional computer graphic of the
jawbone. Then using advanced computer software, he can view the bone
digitally. The dental implant surgery can be completely planned on the
computer...no banana-peeling of the gums is required! Once this
is accomplished a surgical template is made, and Dr. Strickland uses this for
precise placement of the implant. Using
this new technique, he only has to make a tiny hole through the gums in order
to place the implant. Since this is such a conservative approach usually no
stiches are required after surgery. Most patients don't even require pain
medication within 24 hours after surgery. If you,
or someone you know is interested in replacing one or more missing
teeth using the latest technology and the most advanced methods, please
give our office a call and we will gladly set up a consultaion with Dr.
Strickland. Let us
create an exceptional smile for you!
